The day of our rest. We are hanging around in the town which is not much different from the ones we’ve seen in Mongolia before. The main activity area is the market place where just everyone seems to play pool.
This must be some kind of national sports. The square is also full of different Chinese goods and its sellers. One can buy the weirdest things here, including tarbagans and other wild animals meat. For $10 we also buy a tarbagan to surprise our friends who arrive tomorrow. It tastes a bit like chicken; however, it’s very nice.
We spend the entire day waiting for our friends. We succeed to call them in Ulaanbaatar and make sure everything we need is arriving with them. It snows in Ulaanbaatar. It’s 600 kilometers long distance from here to Ulaanbaatar, so they can make it in approximately eleven hours by a Jeep. At 10PM we begin to feel nervous and we get up to the window with every noise from the outside. In an hour they finally arrive. Well, there they are, and all the delicatessen from Latvia too! We have a delicious dinner with Mongolian vodka, tarbagan, Latvian lampreys and pickled mushrooms. There also are letters and presents from our friends and relatives in Latvia, so we are happier than ever before. Until 4 AM we are planning the route of our further trip.
