1836 – THIRD DAY OF THE FOURTH EXPEDITION

Today, our destination is Alūksne where in Renārs’ parents house we will leave our bikes for next expedition. Yamaha and our huskies need maintenance, repairs and new tires. Till Alūksne we use damp forest roads. We enter the city at midday.

We wash out mud and go the Renārs’ father’s garage that is like a sanctuary for motorcycles. And it is clear now where Renārs has got his passion for motorcycles.

Aigars is the USSR champion in the scooter class. He is also the USSR champion in car racing. His love to machinery started in his youth, which he spent in Jaunalūksne next to a racetrack. Now Aigars works in a garage and restores different machinery, ranging from an old Java to a several vehicles that has been in his wishlist from early days. For example, Iž Planeta. On holidays Aigars and his wife go traveling on a motorcycle. For longer trips he is preparing Niva SUV. It will help traveling as his wife Eva will be able to sit by the wheel!

Aigars checks the technical condition of huskies, changes oil and fits new tires that are specially made for enduro traveling.

Hostess has made a chanterelle soup and we are invited to a lunch.
