There is obviously no use to ferry the bikes to the island since the cargo ferry would sail for twenty-four hours unlike the passengers’ one which is just an hour and half quick.
Thus, we leave our bikes at a parking lot for five ringgits ($1,5) for twenty-four hours and take the first ferry at 7AM. Lankavi is famous for its tax-free zone and wild beaches in the Andaman Sea. It also hasn’t suffered from the tsunami two years ago since it’s enclosed by the group of inhabited islands that took on the all power of the huge waves. At 10AM we are already in the harbor, rent another minivan and head off to the sandy Pantai Cenang beach, where we find the easiest nice bungalows surrounded by a tiny palm tree forest.
