The vessel our bikes are planned to be shipped with is supposed to leave for Indonesia on Monday evening. Unfortunately, we can’t get on it ourselves since the captain is not licensed to transport passengers, and it’s a question of a serious matter here.

So, we find a passenger boat that leaves on Thursday and in six hours will get us where our bikes are, in Medan city in the North of Indonesia. It will take us 280 ringgits ($70) per bike plus 150 ringgits for each of the passengers. Geogretown, the island’s largest city, is quite boring: there is nothing much to see except for the old fortification walls built by Englishmen to protect the town from pirates, and the watchtower built in honor of the Queen. We leave our bikes at KTM service and take cab to the beach Batu Feringhi twenty kilometers away from center. There we base at an easy bungalow.
