At 8AM we already are at the embassy of Thailand, and there is another crazy queue. We succeed to get to the clerks to ask if we can get a visa right at the border control point when we come from Cambodia.
We’ve heard from some bagpackers in China that this is a possible pattern to cross the Thai border; however, we are still unsure about it. And we were right! There is a row of border control points where Latvian citizens would be able to receive visa at, but the one we’ve chosen is not among these. We catch a clerk who promises to get us our visas within one day for $100. We don’t have many options, so we stand in line for a while and submit all the necessary documents and photos and already by five we get the visa. We are allowed to stay for three months also in Thailand. Then we have DHL packing on our agenda: there are too many things such as warm jackets and trousers, biking shoes, portable stove and a tent that we don’t need in Southern Asia. Thirty kilos all together.
